The author of this report questions the accuracy of suicide statistics. He states that factors such as under & overreporting of rates, lumping together of rates of different jurisdictions & age groups, & inaccurate reporting of changes in rates, can all distort suicide statistics. He stresses that more rigorous examination of suicide rates is necesary, & inspects the suicide rates for Ontario residents. He provides this data in table & graph form & hopes that other jurisdictions will follow.
