Little information is available on the processes involved in psychological disturbance when a separation or loss has occurred during childhood. The paper describes the psychotherapeutic treatment of an adolescent boy. Following the traumatic loss of his father by suicide, he became strongly attached to his mother. This mitigated the reactions to loss. However, adolescence accented deep guilt feelings. Brief treatment was effective. HA
