This editorial summarizes present understanding of teen suicide. A followup study suggests that teens who are prone to impulsive, acting out behaviour face the highest risk for completed suicide. Also at risk are teens with compliant & highly perfectionist personalities. Drug & alcohol use are common among suicide victims. The author stresses that each attempt regardless of motive does not diminish the seriousness of the action. (CM)
