Questionnaire responses, of 946 female & 211 male college undergraduates, show sex differences in receptivity to & attitudes about worth of suicidal people, beliefs about suicidal behavior in peers, incidence of adolescent suicide & morality of suicide. Results are discussed in terms of hypotheses about traditional socialization of the sexes, resulting in role differentiation that may influence attitudes toward & beliefs about suicide.
