Reported are trends in suicide rates for Mexican Amer. & Anglos in Bexar County (San Antonio), Texas, over a 20 yr. period (1960-80). Results show suicide rates for Mexican Amer. of both sexes were lower than those of Anglos. Rates for both groups increased over time, but for Anglos the increase was higher than for Mexican Amer. Unique aspects of Mexican Amer. culture are offered to explain the findings. (PsychINFO)
