This study investigated the physician’s behavioral response to suicidal patients as these responses are related to their inner experience of these patients. The Conceptual Grid was used to measure these responses, using case histories of a suicidal patients & one with a biomedical illness. Unexpectedly, recognizers of suicide potential more frequently clustered negatively valued role figures with the suicidal patient & non-recognizers rarely clustered the suicidal patient with any role models.
