Abstract
Attempted Suicide During Adolescence: Elements of Self Concept and Identification with a Rejecting Parent (Micro HV 6546 R623)
Robinson S M
The author explores aspects of self-concept & interpersonal dynamics pertaining to attempted suicide in adolescence. The subjects were placed in 1 of 3 groups, 2 of which were comparison groups. The experimental subjects were in psychotherapy & had attempted suicide. All were evaluated with the interpersonal checklist. Findings were: a “suicidal self-concept” distinct from a general self-concept; a strong association with the rejecting parent while suicidal; & lower self-esteem.
