Attempted suicide patients may have a thought process or cognitive coping pattern that lowers their ability to cope with stress. A study of attempters (n=58) was carried out using the PSI. In general, problem solving scores were low. Problem solving among men had a mean of 10.8 out of a posible 23, while problem aviodance was 1.3 out of 12. Females scored 9.9 & 1.1 respectively.
