The influence of economic conditions upon suicide risk is investigated in a sample of 120 students who were seen by a university counselling centre. 53% were male, & the mena age was 25. It was predicted that negative attitudes toward the future increased risk of suicide. Data was obtained by questionnaire & self-reports; information about previous suicide attempts was obtained. Correlations were found between negative attitudes & suicidal behavior. 14 refs. (NBB)
