Training for Work in Crisis Intervention and Emergency Psychiatry Services

Although crisis intervention & emergency care are 2 different fields of work, many crisis take the form of emergencies & it is not uncommon for an emergency to lead to a crisis. Training therefore, should involve both areas. Discussed are the most effective method of implementing such programs & targeting particular groups of staff. Case discussions, telephone intervention & on the job supervision in practice-based training programs have proven particularily effective. (NBB)
