The object of this research was to demonstrate the importance of heeding verbal & nonverbal clues that an adolescent is about to commit suicide. All 67 cases of adolescent suicide autopsied in Belgrade from 1969-1978 were studied (44 females, 23 males). Nearly 1/3 had verbally announced their intent. Implications for prevention are discussed.
