Evaluated is the crisis centre telephone service located at a psychiatric hospital, staffed by psychiatrists & psychologists. Call records on 2 randomly selected days per month were analyzed during 1968-84. Content of the calls, averaging 18 per day, included love, psychiatric problems, interpersonal conflicts, alcoholism, existential questions, & suicide. Most involved females up to age 25. Although the service was created for suicide prevention, it handles other problems & crisis situations.
