The authors investigate activity attendence as a measure of depressive detachment among suicidal patients & explore the possibility of different patterns of depressive detachment exhibited by suicidal patients who make “mild” & “serious” attempts. Subjects were 15 “serious” & 20 “mild” attempters. The hypothesis that serious attempts are often proceded by lessened activity was supported. Mild attempters were less prone to withdrew from activities at the time of their attempt.
