Presented is a preliminary report of an ongoing study of the bereavement process in spouses of elderly suicides 55 years & older. Subjects are 70 spouses (55 females, 15 males) who were the spouse-survivors of their mate’s suicide. Two control groups are used. Data was gathered from interviews & several indexes & scales. Successive measurements are being taken at intervals of 2 mos.- 6 mos.- 24 mos. following suicide. 10 Ref.
