Information about physicians’ health & health practices is sparce & scattered, with a few exceptions, notably suicide & substance abuse. It appears that their health is at least similar to that of the general public. In some areas, such as smoking cessation, physicians have outstripped the general public. As physicians gain more insight into their own health & advice to their patients can be realistic & effective. Suicide mortality is briefly discussed. 46 refs.
