Abstract
The Significance of Nico Speijer’s Suicide: How and When Should Suicide be Prevented?
Diekstra R F W
Dr. Rene Diekstra recounts both the personal effect of a close friend’s suicide and its effect on participants of the WHO Suicide Conference, which was in progress when the author was informed of the tragedy. Diekstra had co-authored “Aiding Suicide” with the victim, suicidologist Nico Speijer, which contained a set of criteria to assist in making the decision when not to prevent suicide. A summary is also included. (NBB)
