Researchers interviewed 246 consecutive suicide attempters admitted to a metropolitan hospital to determine the seriousness of their attempt. Serious of attempt was found to increase with age, poor health, depression, hopelessness, & poor mental health. Females were found to be as serious in their intent as males. (NBB)
