Semi-automated rational behavior therapy evaluated in a trial of 10 patients was found to decrease hospitalization, reduce the amount of medication used, & to cost approximately 1/3 of conventional treatment. Three year follow up of these patients revealed a significant decrease in depression, suicidal ideation, suicide attempts & need for psychiatric treatment. 16 refs. (NBB)
