150 patients admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital following a suicidal attempt were interviewed. Demographic findings indicated an excess of females, 75% were aged 15-34; a high proportion of unmarrieds; marital & family problems were the most common precipitating cause; 2/3 used methods of drug overdoe or poisoning; a depressive type adjustment reaction or depression with anxiety were common psychiatric findings. 13 refs.
