Examined are suicides admitted to a psychiatric hospital in Sweden in 1960 (N=488, 214 males, 274 females). There were 3 categories: serious attempts; impulsive acts; & attempts where there were no intention to commit suicide. Stated is that the mechanism of automatism was involved in the latter group, all of whom were cases of poisoning. Those with cerebral organic conditions were highly represented in this group. 5 refs.
