A survey with 89 nursing students investigated the relationship between knowledge of suicide lethality factors & the capacity to respond appropriately to suicidal people. The resulting lack of association between the 2 variables suggests they are independent, with both potentially important suicide prevention competencies. It is recommended that training programs attend to both elements when preparing suicide prevention workers.
