A model of a program developed in 1982 to deal with student crises and emergencies at a state university campus is based on the assumption that a small proportion of students are unable or unwilling to use student personnel services. The program was based on a desire to assist students in educational development and to minimize mandatory withdrawals because of psychiatric evaluation, suicidal behaviours, or other disruptive activities. 6 ref.
