The case history of a 32 year old female who attempted suicide by ingesting 30 acetaminophen tablets is described. Expected symptomatology during the first 24 hour period, the next 24 hour period to 48 hours (latency period), and the next 3 to 5 days is provided. The use of acetylcysteine (mucomyst) as an antidote is also discussed. (NBB)
