The outcome of a 13-4-yr follow-up of the Agra cases in the International Pilot Study of Schizophrenia was observed. It was found that 46% of schizophrenics & 43% of manic-depressives had 1 or 2 epsodes during the first 5 yrs after inclusion & none in the subsequent period of 8-9 yrs. The results indicate that the illness loses its intensity over a period of years. The suicide rate was similar to that reported in other studies. 19 ref.
