A study of 900 adolescents (430 females, 470 males) treated at an adolescent center in Houston for the period 1974-1982 indicated that the most frequent presenting symptoms, in decreasing order, were depression, school problems, threatening behavior, running away & suicidal ideation. Suicidal ideation increased 3-fold during the period 1980-1982 (3.2 % to 10.6 %). More females than males presented with suicidal ideation. Six tables & six figures provide statistical information.
