Since its inception in 1965, the Suicide Prevention Center has provided specialized services focussing on suicide prevention and related issues. The pilot stress management project for junior high level students was conceived as an attempt to focus on the primary level of intervention: the true prevention level. By learning how to deal positively with stress, the student is afforded a means by which he can circumvent depression, and ultimately, self-destructive behaviors.
