The purpose of this article is to present an overview of suicide by the aged & to assist the caregiver in understanding his role in suicide prevention. The authors state that the elderly are at greater risk of self-destructive behavior than other age groups. Several risk indicators are examined & an assessment tool consisting of 13 questions is provided. (NBB)
