This is a U.S. Public Health reprint of a MMWR Sep 9 1983, publication presenting facts about violent death among U.S. youth aged 15-24. The rate of suicide for this group increased 41% between 1970 & 1978 to 12.4/100000 from 8.8/100000. Charts illustrate rates of suicide & of homicide by race & sex, & percentage of suicides, by firearms & poisoning for males & females in this age groups, for the period 1970-8.
