The author states that adolescents need programs where pressure is eased, excellence is stressed, & their abilities can be challenged. This booklet outlines such programs that have been implemented in Plano, Texas, high schools, with positive results. A feature of these programs is the formation of teenage & parent “SWAT” teams that promote awareness of school activities & a caring attitude among the stuents body, school personnel & parents. Programs that have come out of SWAT are discussed.
