Publicity & an increased awareness of the problem of adolescent suicide have prompted action on the part of federal U.S. agencies to promote suicide prevention & training programs in educational institutions. These awareness programs focus on the causes of suicide, the warning signs, & the methods to employ if someone seems to be suicidal. This article presents recommendations for intervention & prevention made by contributors to a recent NASW school of social work conference in New Orleans.
