A physician describes how he & several colleagues were able to convince an alcoholic, addicted fellow physician to seek help from an impaired physician program. The author provides an account of the events that led him to suspect a potential problem. A timely article in Medical Economics that stated why physicinas are responsible for helping their impaired colleagues helped him come to the decision to confront the addicted practitioner. (NBB)
