This is the case history of a 30-year-old male who attempted suicide by stabbing himself in the neck. After having the wound surgically repaired, the patient tore it open & inserted 2 empty cigarette packages & 2 coins, which were not observed during resuturing. Two & one-half months later he was readmitted & the objects, which had perforated the esophagus, were removed.
