The purpose of this study is to develop an understanding of the reasons for the increase in suicide among university students during the 1970’s. Existing research in this area is reviewed & statements from involved university professionals are quoted. 2 case histories are presented to illustrate the special problems faced by students. These include extreme anxiety, difficult interpersonal relationships, moving away from home, & depression.
