A review & assessment panel of 7 suicidologists address the current state of suicide research in the following areas: biology (J. Motto), youth suicide (L. Berman), suicide in the elderly (B. Cassenbaum), the effect of the media (D. Phillips), demographic risk factors (J. Smith), prediction (B. Ufoot), and social perspectives.
