A follow-up study of the 8-suicide epidemic of a Manitoulin Island (Ontario) reserve in 1975. Data from the Chief Coroner’s Office indicated a continuing high rate of suicide (27.7/100 000) for the period 1976-80. Suggestions for intervention include a network of resources made up of health care professionals & social workers, especially those familiar with the language & culture of the native population. Measures that would increase the self-esteem of adolescents are considered essential.
