The authors examine trends in methods used in suicide attempts in the city of Oxford between 1969 & 1976. Subjects were patients admitted to the Radcliffe Infirmary who had taken deliberate overdoses. There was a striking decrease in the use of barbiturates & an increase in the use of psychotropic drugs & non-opiate analgesics. 12 ref. (NBB)
