The purpose of this paper is to present previously unreported data on suicide among Anglos & Hispanics (primarily of Mexican origin) comparing patterns of age, sex & method. Populations were drawn from 5 southwestern states. CDC & CPS data for the 6 year period 1975-1980 was used (N=33,037 suicides; 90.2% Anglos, 9.8% Hispanics). Some variations in Hispanic suicide include: rates of less than half of those for Anglos, a small number of female suicides, highest rates for young males. 33 ref.
