The authors present the findings from a 7 year follow-up study of suicidal ideation, plans, & attempts among the general population of a New Haven community originally surveyed by Myers in 1967. A total of 515 subjects were interviewed. Results indicated 14% of this population experienced suicidal ideation; attempt rates were higher than those reported from treatment facilities; a somewhat higher number of males reported attempts, as well as significantly higher numbers of non-whites. 7 ref.
