Mass emergencies entail a number of special circumstances for which immediate & rapid response is needed. This article concentrates on the role of mental health professionals in a case where a train & a school bus collided. The crisis intervention undertaken & the role of the mental health personnel, including the assessment of suicidal behaviour by parents or other family members, in a mass emergency are described & discussed.
