Abstract
Prevention of Emotional Problems Among Native-American Children: Overview of Developmental Issues
Berlin I N
The Native-American child’s achievement of developmental tasks may be seriously interfered with by the depression & alcoholism of the nuturing adults. Conflict between Anglo & Native cultures makes intervention difficult, but constructive changes can be made by teaching problem-solving approaches early in the learning process. Involvement of adolescents in learning about child development & teaching Native paraprofessionals techniques of early intervention can have positive effects.
