A study of all suicidal deaths among Monroe County, New York,residents fro the 10-year period 1966-1975 revealed differences between psychiatric & non-psychiatric patients of a level significant to lead the authors to conclude that clinicians working in a psychiatric setting cannot rely on demographic information in assessing the suicidal risk of psychiatric patients. Recommended are 5-HIAA levels & other biological indices.
