Cerebral Ventricular Enlargement and Suicide in Schizophrenia and Mania

This article comments on an article by A. B. Levy et al on cerebral ventricular enlargement & suicide attempts in chronic schizophrenia, & presents some data regarding suicide attempts & completions in schizophrenic & manic patients who participated in cerebral axial tomography studies. Of 55 male chronic schizophrenics & 24 manic male patients, the suicidal patients tended to have enlarged ventricle-brain ratios. These data are consistent with the findings of Levy et al.
