A lawyer examines a suit brought against a hospital for negligence following the suicidal death of an ICU patient who opened a window near her bed, crawled out to a ledge & jumped. It was determined that the hospital had treated the patient reasonably based on its knowledge of her behavior & mental state. The author points out that the court may have viewed the case differently had the patient’s husband disclosed her previous suicide attempt. (2 pages) (NBB)
