The article reviews the literature on physician suicide & notes that while some studies suggest that the problem may be less dramatic statistically, it is nonetheless an emotional trauma that all experience when their lives are touched by the event. It is suggested that as one approach to primary prevention, medical school curriculums should include programs that promote more awareness in doctors of their own emotional needs.
