Brief psychotherapy may be used as a crisis intervention approach. The author explains the importance of establishing a therapeutic relationship with the person at suicidal risk & the necessity of fostering trust, self esteem & hope. He also suggests telling the patient that suicidal thoughts do not interfere with therapy as long as he masters himself & his actions. (NBB)
