This study (a) examines the high suicide rate among the widowed in a census tract population in Flint, Michigan, & (b) identifies the social psychological factors of anomie, present social isolation, & future social isolation significantly related to widow suicide. A number of explanations of suicide among the widowed are discussed, & recommendations are made in an effort to reduce the suicide rate.
