This article examines attempted & completed suicide among students at Kyoto University, to determine differences between this group & non-suicidal students in (1) their definition of their present life situation & (2) their adjustment to the definition. Wide-ranging epidemiological & demographic factors are evaluated for their effect on the predisposition of self destructive behavior. (NBB)
