Caustic Ingestions: Symptoms as Predictors of Esophageal Injury

A review of records of 79 consecutive patients younger than 20 years, first seen with a history of corrosive ingestion, indicated that the presence of 2 or more of the following symptoms may be a reliable predictor of esophageal injury: vomiting, drooling, stridor.
