The case history of a 19-year-old female who attempted suicide by ingesting 80 2 mg tablets of oestradiol valerate is presented. EEG examination on the first day after oestradiol showed subcortic disturbances; however, 1 week later the EEG was normal. Results of biochemical tests did not show marked abnormalities. The authors conclude that a high oral overdose of oestradiol valerate results in low toxicity & slight side effects. (NBB)
