The use of behavioral therapy in suicide prevention is examined & the elements of behavioral focus are listed. These include: Defining the problem in behavioral terms; Designing treatment plans; establishing measurable baselines & treatment objectives; Planning reinforcement strategies; Specifying the counselor’s role as a consultant only, placing responsibility for cure with the client & his significant others & involving them in the treatment plan.
